Revitalizing Watermelon Sangria Recipe
This watermelon sangria is fruity, revitalizing, and crafted for a gathering. Blend fresh melon with white wine and brandy for the simplest summer pitcher!
What could be more delightful on a scorching summer afternoon than a chilly glass of sangria? The sound of ice cubes clinking against the glass is refreshing in itself! So here’s an ideal fruity flavor for this summer: watermelon sangria!
Now, I’m traditional when it comes to sangria (check out my red sangria). While this flavor isn’t a classic Spanish version, it’s an exquisitely sweet way to savor this summer fruit. I’ve certainly fashioned this recipe in the style of authentic sangria: not overly sweet, featuring white wine, brandy, and of course, plenty of sweet and succulent fruit!
Ingredients You’ll Need
Sangría is a classic wine punch that hails from Spain. I’ve spent a few months in Spain and I cherish the traditional red sangria, made with red wine and chopped fruits, often complemented by orange juice or brandy. Spaniards also enjoy white sangria, a variant made with white wine.
This watermelon sangria is my unique take on a white sangria that incorporates watermelon juice for a fruity twist! Here’s what you need for this recipe:
– Watermelon: Some is cubed for soaking; the remainder is blended into fresh juice.
– Green apple: This introduces a tangy crunch.
– Sugar: Just a touch, to assist the fruit in macerating and releasing its juices.
– Dry white wine: A crisp, dry white, such as Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon Blanc, works wonderfully here; for a sweeter sangria, feel free to use a sweeter wine.
– Brandy or Grand Marnier: The foundational spirit — more details on that below!
– Fresh mint and lime: For brightness and garnish.
Brandy vs Grand Marnier
Here are a few details on these two spirits:
– Brandy: Use any brandy you have available. Cognac is a sophisticated style of brandy if you have it on hand. You can also utilize Cognac for a Sidecar or French Connection.
– Grand Marnier is a blend of brandy and orange liqueur: it adds an upscale touch. You can also use it in a Cadillac Margarita!
How to Make Watermelon Sangria
This watermelon sangria is a twist on the conventional Spanish method for white sangria. The approach is influenced by our favorite Spanish chef, Jose Andres. Chef Andres is from Spain and has opened many successful restaurants here in the US. The “Spanish” technique for making sangria that Chef Jose suggests is as follows:
– Macerate fruit for 20 minutes: Combine the sangria fruit with sugar and allow it to macerate or sit at room temperature to break down. This aids the fruit flavors in infusing the wine even further.
– Prepare the watermelon juice: Create watermelon juice in a blender.
– Add liquids: Incorporate white wine and brandy. Toss in some lime slices and mint.
– Chill for 1 to 4 hours. This permits the flavors to combine and evolve.
Make Ahead Info
For this watermelon sangria, I do not advise preparing it more than 4 hours in advance. Since the fruit is submerged in the liquid, it commences to become mushy. The flavors also begin to diminish a bit, so avoid planning to make this drink too far in advance!
You may chop the fruit and even create the watermelon juice ahead of time. But hold off on starting the actual instructions until you’re no more than 4 hours away from serving.
Tips for the Best Watermelon Sangria
A few insights I’ve gained from crafting this more times than I can count:
– Preserve (and eat) the fruit. Skewer the wine-soaked watermelon and apple onto skewers as a delightful garnish.
– Chill everything beforehand. Ice dilutes sangria quickly; chill the wine and the pitcher ahead of time and serve with just a few cubes.
– Tailor the sweetness to your preference. Watermelons differ greatly in sweetness; if yours is mild, consider adding more sugar or a splash of mint simple syrup.

Blanket Dumplings: An Overview of Creating and Savoring This Cozy Dish
# These Trendy No-Fold Blanket Dumplings Have Hit the Scene
If you adore siu mai or any Chinese dumplings, you must try your hand at making these tasty and simple blanket dumplings. It’s an adorable new viral method of preparing dumplings. It’s quicker than the traditional folding method and tastes equally delicious. Honestly, who ever turns down dumplings?
Like any popular trend, there are numerous variations. I enjoy dumplings and keeping up with trends. Most importantly, I relish head-to-head contests, so naturally, I held a blanket dumpling competition.
## What Are Blanket Dumplings?
In simple terms, blanket dumplings are unassembled dumplings. The stuffing is formed into meatballs, and then dumpling wrappers are gently placed on top, resembling tiny blankets, hence the name.
## How to Create No-Fold Blanket Dumplings (Two Techniques)
Blanket dumplings are incredibly simple to prepare. Essentially, you’re scooping the filling and wrapping the dumpling wrapper around it. You can position the blanket/dumpling wrapper either on the top or the bottom (more details on that below).
### Blankets on Top
1. Prepare the dumpling filling by combining ground pork, finely chopped cabbage, aromatics, and spices.
2. Warm a little oil in a pan over medium heat, and when heated, spoon the filling directly into the pan in 1.5 tbsp portions.
3. Cover the portions with dumpling wrappers, creating a blanket effect.
4. Pour a small amount of water into the pan, cover it, and steam until the dumplings are fully cooked.
5. Lift the lid, allow the meat of the dumplings to become hot and crisp, then savor!
### Blankets Underneath
1. Prepare the dumpling filling by combining ground pork, finely chopped cabbage, aromatics, and spices.
2. Warm a small amount of oil in a pan over medium heat. Take a spoon and place about 1.5 tbsp of filling in the center of a dumpling wrapper.
3. Gather the dumpling wrapper up the sides and put it in the pan. Continue until all the dumpling filling is used. The dumplings can be positioned close and squished together without issue.
4. Add a little water to the pan, cover, and steam until the dumplings are fully cooked.
5. Remove the lid, allow the dumpling wrappers to become hot and crisp, then relish!
## No-Fold Blanket Dumpling Ingredients
– **Dumpling wrappers** – These can be found in the grocery store, generally in the refrigerated section, near the tofu. If unavailable, you can make your own. Ensure to select dumpling/gyoza wrappers instead of wonton wrappers, as they are thicker.
– **Ground pork** – Ground pork is the preferred option for dumplings, but you can utilize any ground meat you prefer.
– **Cabbage** – Cabbage contributes moisture. You can choose any type of cabbage; just chop it finely and salt it before preparing the filling to prevent excess moisture.
– **Ginger and garlic** – Fresh ginger and garlic bring a wealth of flavor to dumplings.
– **Green onions** – Finely sliced green onions add a refreshing brightness.
– **Soy sauce, oyster sauce, and toasted sesame oil** – These provide the primary flavors, along with a bit of salt and white pepper. If you lack oyster sauce, you can replace it with additional soy sauce.
– **Cornstarch** – A small amount of cornstarch assists in binding the dumpling filling and gives it a silky texture.
## Blanket Dumplings vs. Upside-Down Blanket Dumplings
You may have observed that I presented two different techniques for making blanket dumplings above. After the introduction of blanket dumplings, some wondered why one would prepare dumplings upside down. They weren’t mistaken. The original blanket dumplings are indeed upside down since Asian dumplings typically keep the filling inside.
The upside-down blanket dumpling method involves laying out the dumpling wrappers first, then placing the meatballs on top and pressing the wrappers around the meatballs. Upside-down blanket dumplings resemble siu mai, those delightful steamed pork and shrimp dumplings served at dim sum.
## Which Is Superior?
Both techniques yield different results. The original approach produces crispy browned meatballs, while the upside-down technique results in a crispy dumpling skin. After trying both, I concluded that the original method is superior, as it provides a crunch from the seared meatballs and the crispy bottom portions of the dumpling wrapper, while the top stays juicy.
### Blanket Dumpling Sauce
Everyone has their personal favorite dumpling sauce. Personally, I prefer a dipping sauce that is tangy, salty,

Thorough Summary of Sparkling Water: Understanding Carbonated Water and Seltzer
Sparkling water, referred to as carbonated water or seltzer water, has become a favored drink that has garnered notable attention lately. It is essentially water that is carbonated through the infusion of carbon dioxide (CO2), resulting in a fizzy and effervescent beverage. This variety of water is frequently utilized as a foundation for different brands such as LaCroix and can also be produced at home with gadgets like SodaStream.
There are several varieties of sparkling water, including sparkling mineral water, sourced from natural springs and containing minerals. Brands like Perrier and Topo Chico belong to this category. It’s essential to recognize that many brands of sparkling water incorporate flavors or sweeteners, so it is wise to select those without additives for regular use or when incorporating them into cocktails.
When contrasting sparkling water with other carbonated drinks like club soda and tonic water, distinct variations are present. Club soda is carbonated water fortified with added minerals, imparting a slightly salty or sweet flavor, commonly used in cocktails. Tonic water, on the other hand, contains quinine and sugar, providing a sweet and bitter taste, primarily utilized in beverages such as gin and tonic.
In terms of health advantages, sparkling water is regarded as equally hydrating as still water and may even assist digestion. Concerns regarding its effect on dental health are minimal, as plain, unflavored sparkling water exerts a negligible impact on tooth enamel, according to the American Dental Association. Nevertheless, citrus-flavored waters might have elevated acid levels, which could influence enamel if consumed too frequently.
For individuals eager to produce their own carbonated water, home carbonation apparatuses are accessible and present an environmentally friendly option by minimizing aluminum can or bottle waste. Popular sparkling water brands differ in carbonation intensity and flavor variations, with selections like Topo Chico, Perrier, San Pellegrino, bubly, LaCroix, and Spindrift appealing to diverse preferences.
Sparkling water also serves as a flexible component in cocktails, with traditional recipes such as the Mojito, Gin Rickey, and Vodka Soda featuring it for a revitalizing touch. Whether savored alone or as part of a mixed drink, sparkling water continues to be a preferred option for many in search of a fizzy refreshment.
